Summary
A Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) flaw in the Hugging Face Transformers library affects version 4.49.0, specifically the get_configuration_file() function in the transformers.configuration_utils module. The regex pattern config\.(.*)\.json can be triggered by crafted input strings, causing catastrophic backtracking and excessive CPU consumption, which disrupts model serving, exhausts resources, and increases latency.
Mitigation
Fixed in 4.51.0.
