Summary

CVE-2021-29545 affects TensorFlow, an open source machine learning platform. An attacker can trigger a denial of service through a `CHECK`-fail when converting sparse tensors to CSR Sparse matrices, caused by a double redirection that accesses a heap-allocated array. When `indices(i, 0) + 1` falls outside the bounds of `csr_row_ptr`, the code writes outside the bounds of heap-allocated data.

Mitigation

The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.5.0. The commit will also be cherrypicked to TensorFlow 2.4.2, TensorFlow 2.3.3, TensorFlow 2.2.3 and TensorFlow 2.1.4.
