Microsoft fixes classic Outlook bug that hid Copilot buttons

Summary
Microsoft has fixed a known issue that removed the Copilot Chat and Copilot buttons from the classic Outlook desktop client for some Windows users. The bug stopped Outlook from retrieving some account information from the user's Outlook profile, and the missing button can have several causes, including licensing, app configuration, update channel and privacy settings.
Mitigation
Microsoft's update to the support document recommends following the guidance in Copilot troubleshooters and How to find and enable missing Copilot button in Microsoft 365 apps. As a temporary workaround, enable "Show Apps in Outlook" by selecting the File tab, then Options > Advanced, and checking the "Show Apps in Outlook" box under "Outlook panes." Affected users can also use the new Outlook email client or Outlook Web Access (OWA), or create a new Outlook profile.
