Book publishers sue Google for copyright infringement over Gemini AI training

Major book publishers including Hachette, Cengage, and Elsevier have sued Google in federal court, claiming the company illegally used millions of copyrighted books to train its Gemini AI model (a large language model trained on text data) without permission.
