Then there is prompt injection, a malicious email, ...: The Wild Wide West of OpenClaw Agentic System Security

Summary
Researchers studied security concerns in OpenClaw, an AI personal assistant framework, using 162 security-relevant Reddit posts and 180 security-tagged GitHub issues. They mapped 521 CWE instances across 59 weakness types, concentrated in access-control failures, sensitive-data exposure, injection, and unsafe execution. They conclude these issues reflect recurring trust-boundary failures across the agent execution pipeline rather than isolated bugs.
Mitigation
The paper extracts 543 practitioner mitigation suggestions consolidated into seven recurring strategies. The implications it derives include explicit trust boundaries, least-privilege tool access, execution containment, runtime oversight, and defense-in-depth deployment.
