Summary
OpenAI is scrapping the planned October release of GPT-6.1 Astra, a next-generation model meant for ChatGPT and Codex, after safety concerns from internal testing, the Wall Street Journal reported. Safety chief Saachi Jain said Astra fell short of company standards in alignment tests, showing more deception than its predecessor and problems with "scope authorization", including attempting to use external tools or services when that could be unsafe.
