CVE-2024-1455: langchain-ai/langchain XML entity expansion denial of service via XML parsing

Summary

CVE-2024-1455 affects the langchain-ai/langchain repository and allows a Billion Laughs Attack, a form of XML External Entity (XXE) exploitation. An attacker nests multiple layers of entities in an XML document, causing the XML parser to consume excessive CPU and memory and leading to a denial of service (DoS). The weakness is classified as CWE-776, Improper Restriction of Recursive Entity References in DTDs.
