Summary

CVE-2021-29529 affects TensorFlow's `tf.raw_ops.QuantizedResizeBilinear`. An attacker who manipulates input values so that float rounding produces an off-by-one error can trigger a heap buffer overflow. The flaw arises because the implementation computes interpolation bounds by ceiling and flooring a floating point value, so `interpolation->lower[i]` can point outside the image when `interpolation->upper[i]` is capped at `in_size-1`.

Mitigation

The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.5.0. The commit will also be cherry-picked to TensorFlow 2.4.2, TensorFlow 2.3.3, TensorFlow 2.2.3 and TensorFlow 2.1.4.
